Update Passport Details (Naqal Maloomat) in MOI Absher

Your passport information must be updated in MOI Absher system to reflect same information as you have in your current passport in order to legally travel as you are not allowed to travel if your passport information in the system is not updated. In this post, we will explain steps required to update your passport information also known as Naqal Maloomat in Arabic.

Who Can Update Passport Information in MOI Absher?

You need to share your updated passport information with your sponsor (Kafeel) or the person in-charge dealing with government matters (e.g. your HR personnel manager) and he will be able to update your passport information on behalf of your sponsor. You are not eligible to do this at your own. If you login to your MOI Absher account, passport information is just read-only for you without an update option.

Steps to Update Passport Information in Absher

In past, a visit to Jawazat was necessary for Naqal Malomat but now, your sponsor can update your passport details online through Absher app or by logging into his Absher account from his computer.

For updating passport information, after logging into the account, choose E-Services–>Passports and then choose the option Update Resident Passport Information

Next, you need to click on Start Using Service and then click on Dependent List button. Now you will be able to see the dependents list and you can choose a dependent and update his/her passport information.

Information that can be updated includes passport number, passport issuance date, passport expiry date, place of issuance.

When Passport information can be updated?

Passport information can be updated only if:
* Passport has been expired or has less than 6 months validity.
* Passport information hasn’t been updated in last 5 years. (Only once a passport information can be updated every 5 years).
* Passport holder must be present inside KSA. Passport information for a beneficiary can’t be updated if he is out of the country.

What to Do If you get Error “Sorry You cannot update the passport information. Please visit Jawazat for more information”

In the above case, try using Absher Portal or Absher Mobile App as some people claim that they were able to do the update using Application even after getting above error when trying through web portal. But if you fail to update passport information of your family using both mobile app and web, you need to follow below steps.

Visit Passport Department/ Jawazat to Update Passport Information for Your Family

I was getting the above error when trying to update passport details for my spouse after her passport renewal. I followed below steps to get the passport information updated in this case:

  • Being a resident of Jeddah, I went to Jawazat Office in Tahlia Mall. Jawazat Office is located on 1st floor of the mall.
  • I got a token and upon my turn I went to the counter and asked him to do the Naqal Maloomat. The staff asked me to do using Absher but I told him about the above error which I get when trying using Absher myself. I took a print of the error which I received and showed him paper. He asked me to first go to their another counter outside and get the copies of old and new passport along with a form for this.
  • I went out to the said counter and waited in queue. Upon my turn, I asked the staff for Naqal Malomat. He asked me to give old and new passport of my wife along with my Iqama. He photocopied all these and logged into Absher using my credentials.
  • Within few minutes, he handed over me a form along with the copies of passport (old and new front page) and iqama and charged me 20SR.
  • After payment, he asked me to go back to main counter of jawazat where I got a token again and upon my turn, I handed over the form and copies to the staff. He did the needful on his computer and within a minute, process was completed.
  • I logged into my Absher Account and verified that passport details of my wife were updated successfully.
