Saudi Arabia is moving rapidly in its digital revolution by offering dozens of innovative and sophisticated digital solutions for its citizens and residents (expatriates working and living in Saudi Arabia). While a big number of e-services are already offered through Absher Platform by Ministry of Interior; now as a major step; Saudi Arabia has introduced digital ID or digital Iqama for its citizens and residents which is a digital alternative to typical iqama card and anyone will be able to prove his identity simply through digital ID or digital Iqama using Absher Individuals mobile Application even if not holding standard Iqama card physically.
In this post, we will explain steps to Activate Digital Iqama through Absher Individual App.
What is Digital ID or Digital Iqama?
As stated above, digital Iqama or Digital ID is a resident ID or citizen ID of any individual living in Saudi Arabia which can prove legal resident status electronically without furnishing a physical card based iqama or ID. Digital ID or Digital Iqama is available on Absher Individuals application and it has a bard-code holding all required information digitally about a resident or citizen.
With digital Iqama, you will be able to avail all the services in a convenient manner as an alternate to typical card based iqama and you will be relieved from the hassle of keeping your Iqama card always with you as people had been caught and penalized in past for not holding their iqama and if a person was caught by the police and person failed to furnish a valid iqama, he or she was subject to the penalties and legal action according to the law. With this digital iqama, you will be simply required to login to your Absher Individual application and show your ID to police. Alternatively, you also have a flexibility to download your digital ID on your phone so that you are able to use/show it even if you are not connected to the internet.
How to Activate Digital ID or Digital Iqama in Saudi Arabia?
Digital ID (Digital Iqama) can be activated using Absher Individuals App. Please note that Absher application which we use in general for MOI Services and Absher Individuals are two different applications provided by MOI. However, you can use same account to login to both Absher and Absher Individuals applications.
In order to activate Digital ID, you need to download Absher Individuals Application on your mobile. This app is available both in PlayStore and AppleStore for Android and IOS users respectively.
Once you have installed Absher Individuals application on your phone, you can login to this app using your Absher username and password. You will receive an OTP on your registered mobile number and once authenticated, you will land on the home page of application. Now you need to click on My Services option and you will have to choose Activate Digital ID option. Next you will see all details about your ID and a button to Activate Digital ID. Once you click on this Activation button, your digital ID activation for Iqama will be completed and you will see your digital ID with a bard Code.
How to Access Digital Iqama Without Internet (Access Digital ID Offline)
Once you have activated your digital ID or Digital Iqama using Absher Individuals app, now you can access your digital ID even if you are offline without internet.
In order to open your digital ID without internet, open Absher Individuals app and press Access Digital ID Option. For finger-prints based authentication enabled on your phone, you will be prompted to Enter your phone lock and you will have to use your fingerprints to unlock/access the app. Once you provide your fingerprint correctly, you will be able to see your digital ID without internet.
Alternatively, You can also take a screenshot and keep your digital ID saved on your phone.
To see your digital ID online with an access to internet, Once your Digital ID is activated using Absher Individuals app, just login to your account and go to My Services, you will see View Digital ID option and if you click on this, your Digital ID will open in front of you.
You will also see a Delete Digital ID button using which you can delete your digital ID if you want.
